Ichenhausen School Pool Renovation

Summary
The school swimming pool in Ichenhausen was outdated and structurally compromised. As part of a larger modernization effort, Build Smart was commissioned to carry out the entire interior demolition and site preparation for a full conversion of the pool facility.
The project posed several challenges:
-
Large volumes of reinforced concrete and ceramic materials
-
Restricted working hours due to school operations
-
Suspected hazardous building materials due to the construction era
-
The need for minimal disruption and complete dust control
-
Our approach included:
-
Selective gutting of the entire pool area, locker rooms, and technical zones
-
Controlled demolition of the pool basin, platforms, and tile-covered wall sections using vibration-dampened machinery
-
Dust-reduction protocols, including sealed work zones, negative air pressure systems, and active dust suppression
-
Material separation and recycling, with special attention to concrete, tiles, metals, and insulation
-
Asbestos pre-screening, with secure removal of suspected pipe insulation and joint compounds by certified personnel
-
Documentation through before/after photography, work reports, and disposal records
